Code of Conduct for Visitors

1. Respect for Others

All visitors must treat staff, performers, and fellow guests with courtesy and respect. Disruptive, aggressive, or discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated.

2. Compliance with Venue Rules

Visitors must adhere to all venue policies, including:

  • Age Restrictions: Some events may have age limitations. Please check ticketing details before attending.
  • Accessibility: We strive to provide an inclusive environment. If you require assistance, please visit our Access Page, or contact us in advance.
  • Prohibited Items: Any items listed on our Safety and Security page.

3. Dress Code

We welcome everyone and want our audiences to feel comfortable. There is no formal dress code, but as a family and community theatre, visitors are expected to wear sensible attire while attending events.

Occasionally, a performance may require a specific dress code, but we will always inform attendees in advance.

4. Photography & Filming Policy

Unless otherwise announced, photography and filming are not permitted once a show has started, out of respect for performers.

We do, however, encourage all patrons to take a pre-show theatre selfie and tag us @TheAlbertHallLW on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X).

If you wish to take professional photographs or film for any reason, prior permission must be obtained from us before doing so.

Drones are strictly prohibited within the venue and surrounding areas.

5. Child Admission Policy

Children under 18 months will be admitted for free to all events, unless otherwise stated, provided they sit on a parent or guardian’s lap.

If a child requires their own seat, a ticket must be purchased. If child tickets are available for the event, they will be the suitable option.

6. Food, Drink, and Alcohol Policy

We encourage visitors to purchase drinks and snacks on-site to support the venue, but visitors may bring their own food and drink—excluding alcohol.

To ensure a pleasant experience for all guests:

  • Do NOT bring hot food or strong-smelling items into the building. Visitors doing so will be asked to leave.
  • Dispose of rubbish responsibly using the bins provided or by taking waste home.
  • Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited. The only alcohol permitted is that purchased from our ‘AhBar’. Visitors found with alcohol from outside sources will be asked to leave.
  • Hot drinks must be in a suitable, sealed cup to prevent spills and burns.

Alcohol consumption must comply with venue policies and UK legal regulations. Visitors who appear intoxicated or disruptive may be refused entry or removed from the premises.

7. Bags & Security Searches

All bags may be subject to security searches prior to entry to the building.

  • Avoid bringing large bags, as they may cause delays at entry.
  • Bags larger than an average handbag should not be brought to the theatre, as we do not offer cloakroom or luggage storage facilities.
  • Visitors who decline a security search will not be allowed entry.

8. Prohibited Items

For safety reasons, the following items are not permitted inside the venue. This list is not exhaustive and may change:

  • Weapons, sharp objects, or anything resembling a weapon.
  • Fireworks, smoke bombs, and other pyrotechnics.
  • Laser pointers, strobe lights, or similar light-emitting devices.
  • Walkie-talkies, radio jammers, or scanners.
  • Drones (both in the venue and surrounding area).
  • Hazardous substances (e.g., chemicals, irritants, gas canisters).
  • Personal protection sprays (e.g., mace or pepper spray).
  • Substances banned under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
  • Hot food and strong-smelling food (as per food policy).
  • Alcohol purchased outside the venue (only venue-sold alcohol is allowed).
  • Any item that may be used for a demonstration or disruption inside the venue.

9. CCTV & Security Monitoring

The venue operates Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) throughout the site. Every visitor is recorded for safety and security purposes.

10. Visiting & Ticket Collection

If you are attending an event, please arrive early to allow time for security checks—especially if you need to collect tickets from the desk, which may be busy before a show.

11. Consequences of Violations

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • A warning from venue staff.
  • Removal from the premises without a refund.
  • A ban from future events if behaviour is severe.
